TROJAN ATHLETICS - SPECTATOR PLAN

TROJAN ATHLETICS - SPECTATOR PLAN

CHAMBERSBURG, PA -

Dear Trojan Nation,

As we begin the fall 2020 competition season, we would like to share our current spectator plan with our parents and community.

The current recommendation from Governor Wolf for spectators at athletic events states that outdoor facilities may have 250 people (including participants, coaches, officials, game help, and spectators).  Indoor facilities are recommended to have a maximum capacity of 25 people. We are aware that these gathering limits may change due to pending legislation and/or updated guidance from Governor Wolf. We will continue to monitor those potential changes and make the appropriate recommendations to the CASD School Board of Directors for final approval as a part of our Athletics Health and Safety Plan.

Athletic Directors within the Mid Penn Conference Commonwealth Division have been having proactive discussions regarding this topic to ensure as much consistency as possible in how spectators will be addressed at events this fall. Please know that any decision on spectators is ultimately up to the host school and that their plan may differ from our own.

To that end for the sports of Field Hockey, Girls Volleyball, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Girls Tennis, Golf, Cross Country, JV Football, and Junior High Football each of our student-athletes will be given TWO passes for all home events for the fall season. Senior members of the Varsity Football team, Varsity Cheerleading team, and the Marching Band will be given TWO passes for home Varsity Football events this season. In order to gain entry into athletic events in Trojan Stadium, you must have a pass that was issued to your student-athlete.  At this time, no admission fee will be charged for our home athletic events (this may change in the future pending any new orders from Governor Wolf).

The MPC and PIAA have issued guidance regarding spectators at athletic events that we are asking that you follow while in attendance at our home events:

  • Please remain on the home side of Trojan Stadium
  • Seating areas, including bleachers, must adhere to social distancing requirements of at least 6 feet of spacing for anyone not in the same household.
  • Everyone age 2 or older must wear face coverings (masks or face shields) at all times unless they are medically not able to do so.
  • The concession stand will be closed for all events this fall.
  • Spectators are NOT allowed to enter the competition field or play or bench areas.
  • Spectators should not attend if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
  • All spectators should immediately exit the stadium or venue as soon as the competition is over as student-athletes and coaches will exit the opposite side of the stadium.

VARSITY FOOTBALL GAMES:

  • Visiting teams will be limited to 75 total people (student-athletes, coaches, sports medicine staff, etc.)
  • The full Marching Band and Varsity Cheerleading team will now be permitted to attend home Varsity Football games.

  • Parents are asked to not arrive until 30 minutes prior to the start of the game.
  • All parents will enter the main CASHS Fieldhouse entrance.

LIVESTREAMING:

  • CASD will be live-streaming events at Trojan Stadium and in the CASHS Fieldhouse via the NFHS Network.  Information regarding live-streaming, as well as links for competition (both from CASD and when teams travel to away events), will be posted on the CASD Athletics website:  www.casdathletics.com.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation as we navigate the fall season.  This plan is subject to change as it is based on current guidance and legislation. If the 250/25 outdoor and indoor gathering limits revert back to an order from Governor Wolf this plan will be amended to comply. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
